synopsis
Anne Shirley (Anne Shirley) is appointed vice principal of the school in Pringleton, angering elderly Hester Pringle (Ethel Griffies), who controls the unhappy town and who wanted the post to go to someone of her choosing. Hester deliberately makes life miserable for Anne, who hopes to marry her fiancé Gilbert Blythe (Patric Knowles) soon. Anne finds lodging at Windy Poplars, owned by brother and sister Matey (Henry Travers) and Kate (Minnie Dupree), but Hester keeps up her campaign of harassment. This is a sequel to Anne of Green Gables.
