Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
In this Italian film, the story and setting serve as a backdrop for the exposition of director Giorgio Trentin's philosophical conclusions about life, sex, religion, politics, economics, and Women's Liberation. The action takes place in a Venetian palace, and includes some lovemaking scenes. This film received such a blistering reception at the 1972 Venice Film Festival that critics expressed curiosity about the political payoffs which surely occasioned its being shown there.
