Synopsis by Rebecca Flint Marx
A loving documentary about possibly the most controversial hairstyle to ever hit American shores, American Mullet looks at the ongoing debate surrounding the short-in-front, long-in-back creation beloved by rednecks, over-the-hill country singers, Australian sidecar racers, and lesbians alike. Going on the road in a "mullet mobile," director Jennifer Arnold interviewed scores of people -- mullet lovers and loathers alike -- about the divisive 'do, and came up with a humorous, tongue-in-cheek portrait sure to leave hairstylists cowering behind their clippers. American Mullet was screened at the 2002 Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
