Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Adventure Mad was the English-language title of the German comedy-actioner Die Drei Kuckucksuhren. Nils Asther plays a fabulously wealthy young man who is bored by his hothouse existence. To pass the time, Asther begins collecting cuckoo clocks, keeping a clockmaker on the premises for this purpose. The clockmaker turns out to be a crook, who intends to hypnotize Asther and ascertain the whereabouts of the family jewels. Somehow this ends up with Asther being spirited off to Cairo, where he experiences enough excitement for a lifetime. The film was director Lothar Mendes's final European effort before launching the American phase of his career; ditto for its Swedish leading man Nils Asther.
