Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man follows his heart across the ocean but can't always control where it's going in this romantic comedy from director Olivier Lecot. Antoine (Jonathan Zaccai) is a writer from Paris who's head over heels in love with Alice (Fanny Valette). But Alice still has feelings for her former boyfriend Arthur (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and when she decides to fly to New York City to visit him, Antoine follows. As Antoine tries to keep an eye on Alice, circumstances force him to pose as "John," and the scruffy guy with the accent makes a big impression on Tamera (Greta Gerwig), who shares an apartment with Arthur. Tamera seems as determined to win over "John" as Antoine is to steal Alice away from Arthur, and over the course of three days the four characters learn a few things about love while Antoine gets a taste of life in the greatest city in the world. A NY Thing (aka Une Aventure New-Yorkaise) received its North American premiere at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival.
