Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

South African "charcoal and erase" artist William Kentridge compiles nine of his unique animations into one unforgettable film featuring the music of Philip Miller and tracing the life of South African mine owner and land developer Soho Eckstein. As the films, produced between the years of 1989 and 2003, document the ever-changing political climate of South Africa, Kentridge's painstaking method of drawing captures the spirit of change that has propelled an apartheid province to a democratic one, while providing a telling look into the troubled soul of Eckstein's deeply insecure alter ego, Felix Teitlebaum.
