A film with many elements of fantasy, generally with very toned-down violence aimed more pointedly at children. A blossoming of the form occurred with the ascendancy of the puppets of Jim Henson and Frank Oz. In movies populated by their creations, like Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth, they established a friendly but wildly imaginative element to fantasy that was easily accessible to children.
