David Swift's family classic The Parent Trap gets an impressive two-disc release from Disney/Buena Vista. The DVD offers a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.78:1. This is easily the best this film has ever looked on home video. The English soundtrack is impressively rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. Spanish subtitles are accessible, and the soundtrack is closed captioned. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by director Swift and lead actress Hayley Mills, the theatrical animated short Donald's Double Trouble, a making-of featurette, production archives, and a 1961 Disney studio album. This is an excellent family title that has extras that will appeal to children, parents, and film enthusiasts.
