The '80s horror film Scanners comes out on dual-layered DVD in a widescreen anamorphic picture format (with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio) and the following rather limited audio track options: English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono and French Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono, with subtitles available in Spanish and French. Closed-captioning is also included in this release. However, there are no special or bonus features of any kind included aside from the original theatrical trailers. For a good part (about 20 minutes) of the movie's last half, the sound -- which at the Dolby 2.0 Mono level is not of good quality or sharpness to begin with -- is noticeably out of synchronization with the video.
