Robert Altman's influential multi-character drama Nashville comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English subtitles are accessible. It would be correct to say that Nashville has never before looked or sounded this good on home video. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Altman, an interview with Altman, and a theatrical trailer. Considering the quality of the picture and sound, as well as the status of the film as one of the most important movies of the seventies, this is a superb release from Paramount.
