Moby Dick
Description by Craig Chalquist

This inexact 1998 remake of Melville's classic novel offers surprisingly few features: a full-screen, non-anamorphic, standard (1.33:1) aspect ratio; Dolby 2.0 Surround (English only); a Spanish subtitle option; a "Cast and Crew" section; a few production notes; and a "making of" featurette -- started off by Patrick Stewart and ponderously narrated by Gregory Peck -- that goes far toward showing why the film's few special effects looked so silly. Additionally, much footage from the original television version was inexplicably dropped, making this two-and-one-half hour DVD much less Moby than the four-hour miniseries.
