Gun Fury
Description by Bruce Eder

Columbia-TriStar is to be complimented for offering Raoul Walsh's Gun Fury on DVD -- for the effort, if nothing else, that is. The source print is of somewhat questionable quality, however -- the color balances in the full-screen (1.33-to-1) image are off, and the detail is soft, and this is especially true in comparison to the newly-struck 35mm 3D print shown in New York in 2004. That looked so much better than what we see here, in detail and quality, that this DVD is a disapointment to this reviewer. It's actually somewhat better than adequate, but it ought to be better than that. It's also a sign of how hastily this disc was prepared that it has only a dozen chapters, and no trailer from the original film, only a promotional spot for Columbia's other western DVD releases.
