Sidney Lumet's remake of John Cassavetes' Gloria comes to DVD with a very strong release from Columbia/TriStar. The disc contains two transfers. The widescreen image preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame 1.33:1 picture. English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include theatrical trailers, a "making of" featurette, cast and crew filmographies, and production notes. Although the film failed to find an audience in theaters, the DVD release is probably good enough to get people to give it a first look.
