Barbra Streisand returns as Fanny Brice in the hit sequel Funny Lady. Columbia has done a passable job on this 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, though it's not nearly as gorgeous as their transfer for the original Funny Girl. While the color schemes and black levels all look well-rendered, there is a slight amount of softness in the image. However, this can be overlooked as most of the film displays a very warm and pleasant look. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 3.0 in English (along with a Dolby 2.0 in French). This 3.0 soundtrack is quite nice, though not as extensive as a Dolby 5.1 remix. This 3.0 soundtrack has a nice range of fidelity and depth with only a small amount of distortion heard during a few key scenes. Also included on this disc are English closed captions and English, French, Thai, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish subtitles. Sadly, the only extra features available on this disc are some thin filmographies, a few theatrical trailers, and a list of song highlights from the film. |
