One of director David Lynch's weirdest and most outrageous films is 1986's Blue Velvet. MGM has done a presentable job on this 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Sporting a solid array of colors and fleshtones, this is an excellent-looking image that should please fans who have been subjected to the pan-and-scan version of this film. While there are a few areas that feature grain, overall, this is a great reproduction of the original negative. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in English. Sadly, fans aren't treated to a newly remixed 5.1 mix for this film. What they do get is a generally light and boring 2.0 mix that is mainly focused in the center and front speakers. However, the dialogue, effects, and music are all free and clear of any hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc are French and Spanish subtitles. The only extra features available on this disc are a few paltry production notes and a theatrical trailer for the film. |
