Disney has been doing a superb job of giving its classic animated films the kind of deluxe DVD releases that appeal to both the casual fan as well as more avid film lovers. This spectacular two-disc set of Bambi is no exception. The movie is presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and has certainly never looked better on home video than it does here. The English soundtrack has been remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1. That mix allows one to feel more inside the forest with the animals than ever before. Supplemental materials include eight interactive games, a story starring Thumper, deleted scenes, a look at what the Disney studios were up to in 1942, and a featurette covering many different aspects of Bambi's production. This set should appeal to children, adults, and filmgeeks.
