The only film made by both of the famous Bergmans, Ingmar and Ingrid, comes to DVD in a first-rate package by The Criterion Collection. Boasting a widescreen 1.66:1 image that faithfully reproduces the original theatrical aspect ratio, the disc also presents the Swedish soundtrack in its original mono format, though it is Dolby Digital Mono. English subtitles are available. The supplemental features include a theatrical trailer and an outstanding, informative commentary track by film historian Peter Cowie.
