Biography by AllMovie

A lovely blond leading lady of the 1910s, Vivian Reed appeared as Princess Gloria in the early Oz films: Patchwork Girl of Oz, Magic Cloak of Oz, and His Majesty the Scarecrow of Oz (all 1914). Twenty-five years later, Reed had a silent bit in the most famous screen version of L. Frank Baum's classic fairy tale, MGM's The Wizard of Oz (1939). The wife of director Alfred E. Green, for whom she did the 1917 Edgar Rice Burroughs melodrama The Lad and the Lion and a few other films, Reed was the mother of assistant director/producer Hinton A. Green (Home Alone 3, 1997).
