Ukrainian composer Vadim Khrapachev began his career in cinema in 1973 with the TV miniseries Staraya krepost (The Old Fortress). He has composed scores for 78 films, including 49 features and TV series, 18 animated films, and 11 documentaries. He has also composed a symphony and several chamber compositions. As a musicologist, he published the article "Music in Sonic-Visual Synthesis" in 1988.
