biography
One of the silent era's great "fat lady" comics, Indiana-born Sunshine Hart (born Lucia Hart) co-starred opposite Andy Clyde in Mack Sennett's situation comedy series The Smith Family (1926-1928). Hart mainly appeared in two-reelers but is also remembered as Mary Pickford's comically pathetic mother in My Best Friend (1927) -- the character who, having collapsed on the running board of a taxicab, is deposited in the middle of busy Hollywood Boulevard.
