American production designer Stuart Wurtzel has been behind a variety of major and minor films of the '80s and '90s. He started out designing theatrical productions for the San Francisco American Conservatory Theater. In the mid-'70s, he began working on films including Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) and Mermaids (1990).
