biography
Latin American actress Sofia Alvarez was born and raised in Venezuela. In 1928 she moved to Mexico. Two years later she debuted as a bit player in Santa (1930). She continued working in such films as La Barca de Oro and Mexico de mis Recuerdos through the 1940s. She then temporarily retired from acting in favor of pursuing a career as a radio singer until 1958 when she resumed acting until she permanently retired in 1963.
