Filmmaker Helke Sander, whose work is associated with New German cinema, was one of the first to graduate from the Berlin film and Television Academy. Her best known film Die allsetig reduierte Persoenlichkeit (1977) tells the story of a female photographer attempting to cope in the face of patriarchal capitalism. Most of her films are centered on women's issues.
