Actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield began her screen career by essaying supporting roles in big-screen features. She was often cast in thriller or action-oriented opuses as a heroine with some degree of romantic involvement, such as the 2004 Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (as a jungle explorer who finds herself at the mercy of massive carnivorous snakes), and the 2007 Omega Man remake I Am Legend, as the lover of last man on Earth Will Smith (a part she inherited from Rosalind Cash, who played Charlton Heston's lover in Omega). Meanwhile, Richardson-Whitfield also made her mark on television, with a regular role as Allison Blake on the supernatural drama series Eureka (2006-2007) and a recurring role on CSI as Laura Lamas (2003).
