biography
Egyptian filmmaker Salah About Seif collaborated on seven films with fellow countryman and Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz. The two first teamed up on the screenplay for Your Day Will Come (1951). Other notable collaborative efforts include Dead Amongst the Living (1960) which starred new actor Omar Sharif. Seif's 1977 film El Sakka Mat/The Water Carrier Is Dead (1977) won him "Best Film of the Year" from the Egyptian Film Association.
