American screenwriter Robert R. Presnell spent the early-talkie years at Warner Bros., scripting such films as Wild Boys of the Road and The Kennel Murder Case (both 1933). Presnell became a production supervisor and associate producer while at Warners, then graduated to full producer with Universal's Postal Inspector (1936). He continued working as a screenwriter for a variety of studios, earning an Academy Award nomination for Meet John Doe (1941). Active until 1953, Robert R. Presnell began affixing "Sr." to his billing toward the end of his career to avoid confusion with his son, Robert Presnell Jr., likewise a screenwriter of note.
