Manos Hadjidakis was a prolific and extremely popular composer of Greek music. During his career he scored numerous Greek films such as Stella (1954), as well as international films like Topkapi (1964). In 1960, Hadjidakis won an American Academy Award for his song "Never on Sunday" from Jules Dassin's the film of the same name. Between 1975 and 1982, Hadjidakis was the director of his country's state radio.
