Director and screenwriter Stanislaw Bareja was known in his native Poland for his popular satirical comedies. A 1954 graduate of the Lodz Film School, Bareja started out as an assistant director and a second unit director. In 1960, he directed and co-scripted his first feature, Maz Swojej Zony/The Husband of His Wife. Bareja sometimes augmented his directing career by playing small roles in other directors' projects. He also periodically directed for television.
