A pioneering screen actor from England, distinguished-looking Herbert Prior was a member of D.W. Griffith's stock company at American Mutoscope and Biograph Company (1908-1909). He later starred opposite his wife, Mabel Trunnelle, in a dozen or so films for Edison and, later still, played top supporting roles in Mary Pickford's The Poor Little Rich Girl (1917) and Pollyanna (1920). Prior was still going strong in the 1920s and beyond, retiring in 1934.
