But as the future would amply prove, Johnstone was no beauty without brains. Mrs. Walter Wanger in private life (they would divorce in 1938), Johnstone left films in favor of medical school, later becoming a member of the team that developed the intravenous drip. The silent era Justine Johnstone should not be confused with Justine Johnston, a more recent television and screen actress.
