British actor Tom Ellis initially made a splash in his native U.K. with a spate of roles on English television. Ellis transitioned to Hollywood assignments with a small turn as an FBI agent in Herb Ross' scathing political drama True Colors (1991), but didn't become a prolific onscreen presence until around a decade later, with work in such productions as Briton Sarah Harding's telemovie Pollyanna and Mike Leigh's issue-laden period drama Vera Drake (2004). In 2008, Ellis starred as the male lead opposite Heather Graham in the German-produced romantic comedy Miss Conception.
