A former film editor, Briton Ralph Smart began his screenwriting career in 1935, turning out mostly comedies for the next decade. Smart turned to directing with a brace of Australian films, The Overlanders (1946) and Bush Christmas (1947). He kept busy as a film producer/director until 1953, when he moved into television. Ralph Smart's most conspicuous credits as a TV producer/director include the weekly series The Invisible Man (1958-1960) and Danger Man (aka Secret Agent [1961-1966]).
