Biography by AllMovie

Known in her day as "Opulent Ormi," blonde Ormi Hawley was a star for the Philadelphia-based Lubin Mfg. Company. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and a leading stock company actress prior to entering films in 1911, Hawley excelled in playing nobly suffering heroines in one- and two-reel melodramas, of which she reportedly made more than 300. But like most of the early stars, Hawley had trouble maintaining her popularity in the latter part of the decade. Though she received fine reviews as Nadia Fedorova in Michael Strogoff (1914), and as the heroine in A Nation's Peril (1915), her career was already on the wane and she retired from films in 1919.
