Beautiful American silent screen actress Ora Carew (or Carewe) went from playing dignified victims (the luckless Mrs. Dickinson in Martyrs of the Alamo [1915]) at D. W. Griffith's Fine Arts company to frolicking on the beach at Santa Monica as one of Mack Sennett's much-heralded if underpaid (reportedly $14 a week) Bathing Beauties. Following her strenuous stint with Sennett, Carew supported Betty Compson in the 1919 serial The Terror of the Range, played Barbara Musgrave opposite Bert Lytell's Sherlock Brown (1922) and starred in the revenge melodrama Three Days to Live (1924). Despite a great variety in assignments, Carew's career proved relatively short; she retired from the screen in 1925.
