Biography by AllMovie

Primarily a stage actor, Minnesota-born Olav Skavlan co-starred with Douglas Fairbanks in The Cub (1910), a long-running Broadway hit, and later appeared with Marguerite Clark in Baby Mine and opposite the legendary Robert Mantell in the venerable whodunit Seven Keys to Baldpate. On screen, Skavlan played "Benvolio" in the Metro version of Romeo and Juliet (1916) and, rather more importantly, General John J. Pershing in Fox's propaganda epic Why America Will Win (1918). After that, Skavlan returned to the legitimate stage.
