A handsome silent screen leading man with a widow's peak, lanky Niles Welch had appeared in stock prior to making his screen debut for the Vitagraph company in 1913. A leading man for such early silent stars as Norma Talmadge and Bessie Barriscale, Welch also starred in The Gulf Between (1918), billed as the first feature film produced in two-strip Technicolor. His career continued well into the sound era but mainly in bit roles.
