biography
Russian actor Nikolai Batalov had a long, distinguished career in Moscow theater. Though he only occasionally worked in Soviet films, his appearances were usually notable. His most famous film role is that of Pavel Viassov in Pudovkin's classic Mother (1926). His nephew was the famous Russian actor and filmmaker Alexi Batalov.
