After making a career appearing in television commercials, Baltimore native Mike Rowe found fame as the voice of the Discovery Channel, lending his pipes to several of the cable channel's programs as a narrator. In 2005, he upped his exposure when he began appearing onscreen as the host of the hit series Dirty Jobs. In 2011 he began acting as host for the documentary series Curiosity.
