Over his three-decade career, Russia-born cinematographer Michel Kelber worked with some of the best directors in France, including Clair, Duvivier and Renoir. He was born in Kiev, Ukraine and began working as an assistant cameraman in French films in 1928 after attending the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris. Kelber became a full-fledged lighting director in 1933. During WW II, he primarily worked in Switzerland and Spain.
