Biography by AllMovie

Meyer Mishkin was first and foremost a talent agent, responsible for establishing the careers of Gregory Peck, Jeff Chandler, Kirk Douglas, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, and Richard Dreyfuss. A native of New York City, he briefly attended the City College. He dropped out to work as an errand boy for Fox Studios in New York and he quickly found a job in the studio's talent division. Eventually, he moved to Los Angeles and formed his own talent agency. Mishkin even tried his hand at directing the casting of a couple of movies for a close friend, director Henry Hathaway. In spite of being courted on numerous occasions to join the William Morris talent agency, as well as almost all of the other most prestigious talent agencies, Mishkin enjoyed around 60 years of self-employment. In 1999, he died at age 87.
