biography
Filmmaker Melanie Read describes herself as a 'radical lesbian feminist.' She spent her youth in New Zealand and Australia where she began her career as a television film editor. In the '80s she came out with two films, Trial Run (1984) and Send a Gorilla (1988). Both films are mainly feminist oriented. The latter film was selected for the Women's Film Festival at Creteil in 1989.
