biography
Winsor McCay was one of the first American animators and may have made the first feature-length animated feature, Sinking of the Lusitania (1918). Other famed films from McCay include Gertie the Dinosaur (1909) and Little Nemo (1911). Born and raised in New York City, McCay started out working as a cartoonist for the New York Herald.
