Marvin Hatley wore many hats during his film career. He got his start working as an actor and writer for Hal Roach shorts. Later he began scoring and working as a musical director on a few Laurel and Hardy films. For his scores of Way out West and Blockheads, Hatley earned Oscar nominations.
