biography
Spanish director Mariano Ozores specialized in popular, low-budget comedies, but early in his career, he made an impact with a serious political documentary about the Spanish Civil War, Morir en España/To Die in Spain. Ozores made the film as a response to the anti-Franco sentiments expressed in the French film Mourir à Madrid/To Die in Madrid. Ozores' parents were successful actors, and his brothers, José Luis Ozores and Antonio Ozores, are two of Spain's most popular film comedians.
