Biography by AllMovie

A veteran stage actor, long under contract to such Broadway impresarios as Daniel Frohman and Klaw and Erlanger, Macey Hallam appeared opposite the likes of Marjorie Rambeau, Nance O'Neil, Minnie Maddern Fiske, and Otis Skinner prior to making his screen debut as an ambassador in Famous Players' The Eternal City (1915), which was filmed on location in Rome, Italy. Swarthy and grim looking, Hallam excelled at playing exotic villains and would go on to menace the likes of Pauline Frederick, Marion Davies, and Pola Negri. In fact, Negri's first Hollywood film, Bella Donna (1923), proved to be Harlam's last.
