Biography by AllMovie

With over 25 years of motion picture sound department experience, Ken Weston has worked for some of the most demanding directors in the business, creating memorable auditory landscapes that consistently enrich the often striking visual imagery that they accompany. Beginning his auditory career as boom operator on such films as Stanley Kubrick's The Shining and Nicholas Roeg's Flash Gordon (both 1980), Weston soon cut his teeth as sound mixer on such memorable projects as TV's Max Headroom (1985). Working consistently as sound recorder and mixer throughout the 90s, Weston received his first Oscar nomination for his work on Alan Parker's Evita (1996). Four years later Weston would return to the Academy Awards, this time emerging victoriously for his work on Ridley Scott's wildly popular peplum adventure Gladiator.
