Foghorn-voiced actor Joe Silver was 20 years old when he made his Broadway bow in Tobacco Road. Though active in all branches of show business, Silver was most closely associated with the stage, winning a Tony nomination for his multiple characterizations in the 1970 production Lenny. A familiar presence in films thanks to his lived-in face and distinctive voice, Silver was in the "who is that?" category of character players (if you're wondering who he is, think back to the long-suffering agent of washed-up playwright Michael Caine in 1982's Deathtrap. That's Joe Silver). Joe Silver's TV appearances include regular roles on 1954's Red Buttons Show and 1975's Fay -- not to mention dozens and dozens of commercials.
