A former theatrical producer from New York City, Jacques Jaccard wrote, directed, and/or acted in hundreds of action and Western melodramas in a career that lasted from the mid-1910s until the demise of low-budget, independently produced Westerns in the mid-'30s. Jaccard's serviceable but routine directorial efforts ranged from the 1916 two-reel series Liberty -- a Daughter of the U.S.A to Senor Jim (released 1936), a low-budget effort from small-scale Beaumont Pictures and one of Jaccard's final assignments. One notable screen cowboy remembered the volatile director as "the screamenist d... man I ever saw!"
