biography
Soviet director and film critic Ilya Trauberg began his career with the documentary Leningrad Today in 1927. His debut fictional feature Blue Express/China Express is considered one of the great examples of montage. Trauberg's subsequent films did not make the same impact. Before making his debut film, Trauberg was among Eisenstein's assistants on his classic Ten Days That Shook the World.
