biography
Canadian screenwriter Hugo Butler was first a journalist and playwright before moving to Hollywood in 1937. There he penned a number of notable scripts and literary adaptations. In 1940 he shared an Oscar nomination for the screenplay of Edison the Man. He continued writing screenplays through the late 1960s.
